In order to provide Tourism Victoria Members with the most up-to-date tourism trends and statistics, Tourism Victoria conducts ongoing research projects, often in partnership with various industry partners and Tourism British Columbia.

In the heart of downtown Victoria, British Columbia, by the spectacular Inner Harbour is the Victoria Conference Centre; a bright, modern and technically advanced meeting place that is most inviting. The VCC hosts nearly 300 events a year and delivers an economic benefit to the city of almost $50 Million annually. (i.e. 29 events in October 2007) Expansion has been proposed by the Victoria Chamber of Commerce.

Annual Tourism Revenues and Overnight Visitor Numbers
Data on Victoria’s projected annual tourism revenues and annual overnight visitors based on hotel tax revenues and Tourism Victoria’s Exit Survey.

Historical Market Origin
Historical annual data based on the monthly Victoria Commercial Accommodation Survey which collects detailed accommodation, booking and market origin data on overnight visitors to Victoria. Victoria is one of few destinations in North America that collects data at this level of detail in partnership with Tourism British Columbia and industry. Survey participants receive a variety of detailed and customized reports pertaining to their distinct competitive set on a monthly basis. Victoria hotel properties who would like to join the survey are encouraged to contact Tourism Victoria.

Tourism Victoria Exit Survey
The Exit Survey is conducted five times a year in March, June, July, September and December at the BC Ferry Swartz Bay Terminal, Victoria International Airport and the Victoria Clipper Terminal. The survey includes: Visitor Origin, Trip Purpose, Destination, Accommodation, Activities, Daily Expenditure, and more.

Victoria Tourism Bulletins and Statistics
Data based on Chemistry Consulting Group Inc. and Grant Thornton LLP is featured in the monthly Victoria Tourism Bulletin. Historic data featuring statistics regarding: Hotel Average Occupancy, Average Daily Room Rate, RevPAR, BC Ferry Traffic, Victoria International Airport Passengers and Victoria Conference Centre Delegate Days.
