Gaming impact on Mississippi and in particular, Tunica County
 

The citizens in the area have had a substantial  increase in their quality of life principally due to the revenue steams given back to the community from casino revenues.

  • Since gaming first started in Tunica County in 1992, over $3 billion have been invested in the County.

  • In 1999, the Tunica County Casinos paid over $100 million in state and local taxes.

  • Since 1992, the total assistance to needy families has been reduced by 90%.

  • Collection of child support has increased by 2,700%.

  • Food stamp distribution has been reduced by 70% .

  • The average salary has increased by more than 25% .

  • To say the least, these figures show how much the impact of the gaming industry has changed Tunica County from one of the poorest counties in the USA to one of prosperity and success.

  
 

Gaming Tax Distribution
 

Tunica County receives 4% of the gross gaming revenue. Of this, 12% goes to schools, 2% to the Levee Board, 4% to the town of Tunica; the balance goes in to a general fund.

  
       
 

COMPETITION:

 

Although there will be a dozen Casino/Hotels in Tunica County by the time Myriad World Resort is completed, there will not be any other resort with so many magical elements between Las Vegas and Atlantic City.  Myriad World Resort will be the main attraction of the region and the catalyst for continued growth for all its neighbors.
